Statement of Faith

image

I WE BELIEVE that the Scriptures, the Tenach and New Covenant are divinely inspired, verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority in all matters of life and faith.

II WE BELIEVE in one (echad) Sovereign God existing in three persons: God revealed as our Father, God revealed fully as the Messiah, and God revealed through His Holy Spirit. God is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, unbounded in power, and measureless in love. The one true God is the source of all creation and that through the immediate exercise of His power, all things came into being.

III WE BELIEVE that Jesus the Messiah was eternally pre-existent and is co-equal with God the Father; that He took on Himself the nature of man through a virgin birth so that He possesses both divine and human natures. This does not entail man becoming God, never, but God becoming man for a specific period of time and for a specific purpose, to be our sin-bearer. We believe in Yeshua's sinless life and perfect obedience to the Law. We believe that His death provides full and final atonement. We believe that He was buried and bodily resurrected on the third day as the first fruits of those who will be raised. We believe that He ascended into heaven and is now our High-Priest (Cohain Hagadol), making intercession. We believe that He will personally return in power and in glory.

IV WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Messiah; that He was active in the creation of all things and continues to be so in providence; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; and that He regenerates, sanctifies, indwells, seals, illumines, guides, and bestows his gifts upon those who trust and worship Him.

V WE BELIEVE that God created man in His image; but because of the disobedience of our first parents in the Garden of Eden, they lost their innocence and both they and their descendants, mankind, are separated from God, suffer physical and spiritual death; and that all human beings, with the exception of Jesus the Messiah, by nature and practice have indwelling sin that God wants to deliver us from.

VI WE BELIEVE that Jesus the Messiah died as the final atonement for our sins, according to the Scriptures. The Messiah would come first to suffer and then return in glory. He became the final substitutionary sacrifice (Korban); and all who believe in Him are justified, not by their own works of righteousness which they have done (Mitzvot), but by His perfect and holy sacrifice; and that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

VII WE BELIEVE that the local congregation is the visible expression of the larger Body of Messiah (God's family), established and ordained of God, organized to carry out His purposes.

VIII WE BELIEVE in one Lord, one faith, one hope, and one mikvah (baptism).

IX WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of all who believe and the everlasting conscious punishment of those who reject Him.

X WE BELIEVE that we are not under the authority Law of Moses, but that it is good. It is the Law of Messiah that dictates all practices for believers today. Believers are free to practice aspects of the Mosaic Law as the Lord leads, for witness or other reasons, yet in no way demanding that others do the same as they.

XI WE BELIEVE in the premillenial and pretribulational return of Messiah and in the literal interpretation of the prophecies which foretell and assure Israel's future regeneration and restoration as a nation.

XII WE BELIEVE that Israel exists as a covenant people through whom God continues to accomplish His purposes; and that the body of Messiah (Church) is an elect people in accordance with the New Covenant, comprising both Jews and Gentiles who acknowledge Jesus as Messiah and Redeemer.

XIII WE BELIEVE the good news of Messiah is the power of salvation to everyone who believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.
